Borrell Corporate Citizens

Throughout its existence, Borrell Electric Co., Inc. has been a regular contributor in providing service to the community.

Borrell Electric Co., Inc. currently conducts various community service events. Since 1998, Borrell Electric Co., Inc. has organized an annual golf tournament that donates all contributions to Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is the number one killer in children under the age of two. Since the tournament's inauguration, Borrell Electric Co., Inc. has raised over $500,000.00 for children of SMA. They are also a major contributor to the Boys and Girls Club. Since 2003, it has been an active participant in charitable events for this organization. Among these events are the Bikes for Christmas drive held anually. In this event, Borrell Electric contributes 150 bikes annually to underprivileged children. It has also donated over $100,000.00 to this organization over the past six years. Borrell Electric Co., Inc. also makes several other contributions throughout the year to various charities. Among these include: the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer, Shands Children's Hospital, and over $20,000.00 in the last year to the Moffitt Cancer Center.

The current owners, Jim Smith and Carlos Menendez, also make personal contributions during the Holidays. Jim Smith is involved with contributing gifts for children at Tampa General Hospital. In an effort to brighten what could be a somber time for ill children, Jim donates toys, and acts as Santa Clause for the children in the hospital over Christmas. Similarly, Carlos attempts to improve the holidays for underprivileged families that are recommended by local churches, and Hillsborough County School Officials. He makes donations that have everything included in a typical Christmas day for two of the recommended families.

At Borrell Electric Co., Inc., we appreciate all the opportunities that have been presented to us, and we feel that it is imperative to give back and present opportunities to those facing adversity.
